THE ROOKIE MOM’S SURVIVAL GUIDE
Two things you really need to survive the first year of motherhood:
Comrades and Coffee
so grab a cup and join our Comrades’ Coffee Morning
Being proud survivors of the first year of motherhood, we fully understand that having a baby can throw even the most professional, together, intelligent woman into physical and mental disarray. A new mom can feel cast adrift when she first encounters the sometimes lonely, confusing and overwhelming ‘Baby World’. Quite often, the only way to save your sanity is to share your dilemmas with fellow new moms. We’d like to reassure you, you are not alone in this weird and wonderful new world – there are other battle scarred comrades out there.
In The Rookie Mom’s Survival Guide, our easy-to-read, easy-to-reference book, coming February 2010, we navigate our way around our postpartum bodies and our new baby’s body. Periodically on this site we’ll zoom in on a body part and a trouble zone for discussion. We’d like to invite all new moms (or old hands) to share woes, funny stories and the things you wish you had known about the first year of motherhood.

As a certified nurse responsible for the care of infants and their new mothers, I really connected with the content of this book. I found the information to be humorous, accurate and most importantly relevant. I would recommend this book to any of my patients and as a mom myself I can’t wait to get a copy for my own enjoyment.
Finally! A book that is as funny as it is accurate. New moms will tone their tummies from laughing as much as from exercising. I applaud Lorraine and Erica for encouraging women to ease back into fitness rather than jump back in – postpartum moms need to hear this message. I love all the core exercise ideas. They are simple, realistic and you can do them anywhere. Best of all, they produce results. Also thank you for talking about Diastasis Recti! I get so many questions about this in class and it’s great to see it covered in this fantastic book for new moms.
I wish I’d had The Rookie Mom’s Survival Guide when I had my first baby! Even after my fourth child I still appreciated the humorous insight and accurate information. The book is a great gift idea for any new mom.
You’re website is great! I wish I had found it earlier with my first child, however, I will be sure to follow your blog with my second. Thanks Ladies.
